Life-saving technologies present a significant part of Korean civil engineering as well as interior and industrial design projects. There are now more and more agencies and product designers to elaborate and implement their own disaster kits — and there is one which merits special attention of the creative audience, Life Clock by SWNA.
SWNA designed this kit for Gyeonggido company in 2016. They perceived to make an object to blend with the routine and come up whenever a person needs it.
Life Clock was introduced in red, blue and grey, and along with the smooth shapes of the device, the color variety helps it easily fit into the common decor. This way SWNA breaks the stereotype of a heavy and boring disaster kit and exercises the canons of industrial design in full: it now becomes a desired possession which can be placed in plain sight and used in case of emergency.
SWNA ran research among emergency workers, firefighters, doctors, nurses and disaster experts in order to equip the kit with the most essential supplies. As a result, Life Clock includes an emergency chemical light, rescue whistle, thermal blanket, compressed gauze, SOS emergency flag and a disaster & safety brochure.
Life Clock disaster kit can be purchased via the website of the Korea Gyeonggido Company or other online distribution channels, including Naver Storefarm.
