Last year, Procreate received its most ambitious and complex update, which gave us a new graphics engine and unlimited control over brushes. And today, Savage announced Procreate 5X made to bring a huge leap forward for the digital artists.
Artists will discover a multitude of all-new features, including Pencil Filters, Face Paint, Reference Companion, Selection Fill, Palette Capture, and many-many more. And for those, who are totally new to Procreate, the updated app will become a functional studio with infinite creative possibilities — that know no equals.
This was so cool to test out!!! I recently got to try out Procreate 5x and hands down one of the funnest filters to play with was this halftone filter!!! Was even better trying it on black and white sketches ✨ pic.twitter.com/LV0DjnkhAD

As a digital artist, you will find it incredibly pleasant to explore the Pencil Filters. This feature allows you to use the Apple Pencil and any brush you like to paint in adjustments and effects the way you want or need. You can create textured effects as well as erase or adjust them in real-time.

Another important tool, Reference Companion, allows you to reference the image and keep it visible as you work — or even pick colors from it using the Eyedropper. Speaking of colors, with the new Procreate update, you can create custom palettes from anything: custom images, photos made with your iPad’s camera, or use any of your existing Adobe ACO and ASE palettes.
Never tried putting makeup on before. When we developed FacePaint in #Procreate5X, I got to see what it's like. No one told me how cool it is. pic.twitter.com/4bEScfKJLE

Most of the new features, like Gradient Map for custom gradients from scratch, Blur Brushes for effortless color blending, or the new Bounding Box Adjust for different Transforming, directly impact your work. Yet, there is one to have lots of fun with, FacePaint. With this entertaining tool, you can paint directly onto your face in real-time. Along with painting, can use Procreate’s full potential — even Animation Assist and Time-lapse are available.

As Procreate 5X update comes with a lineup of exclusive tools and improvements, it also fully integrates with iPadOS 14. This means you don’t have to put down your Apple Pencil anymore, and can seamlessly edit text and change settings with the advanced Scribble integration.
Procreate 5X update is free for all existing users and will be available on September 21st, 2020.
