I always praise the human’s power of imagination: it pulls out so many mind-blowing concepts and ideas. This idea works even more perfectly with curious retro futurism in illustrations. Allow me to bring up the name of Romain Trystram, to my mind, one of the best artists, creating futuristic art.
Let me be 100% honest with you: I’m a great fan of neon in all of its forms: neon elements photo effects, glowing signs as well. And maybe it’s too predictable right now to bring up ‘Blade Runner’, ‘Tron’ or ‘Ghost in the Shell’ movies while telling about Romain Trystram’s projects but these associations are the best ones to visualize them.
Don’t want to sound categorical: there’s a bunch of vector illustrations by Romain with islands, food, commercial, and hi-tech. Yet a special place in my heart is reserved by his neon sci-fi city, depicted in a series of illustrations like ‘Mirages’ series and projects for ‘Mercedes-Benz’, ‘Adobe’ and ‘Affinity’. Skyscrapers with gradient colors and the blaze of neon — these are the powerful tools to make the viewer receive tons of aesthetic ecstasy. Take a walk in one of his sci-fi cities and you’ll get that too.
